Urinary Problem Diagnosis

Urethrocystoscopy: is a diagnostic procedure used to visually examine the urethra and bladder. It involves inserting a thin, flexible/rigid sheath with a camera and light source (cystoscope) into the urethra and advancing it into the bladder. This allows the urologist to directly visualize the urethra and bladder on a monitor, assessing for any abnormalities

Optical Interal Urethrotomy (OIU): is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat urethral strictures. During an OIU procedure, a small telescope called a cystoscope is inserted into the urethra, to visualize the stricture. Then, a laser or cutting knife is used to incise or remove the scar tissue causing the narrowing, thus widening the urethral passage and restoring normal urine flow.

Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumors (TURBT) is a surgical procedure performed to diagnose and treat bladder cancer. It involves using a cystoscope, a thin tube with a camera and surgical tools, inserted through the urethra into the bladder. The surgeon then removes abnormal tissue or tumors from the bladder lining. It's often a crucial step in the management of bladder cancer, particularly in early-stage cases.

Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). HoLEP is considered an effective alternative to traditional surgical methods such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) as bleeding is less than TURP.

Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP): is a surgical procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). During procedure, a special instrument called a resectoscope is inserted through the urethra. The resectoscope contains a wire loop which is used to remove excess prostate tissue that is obstructing the flow of urine. It is considered the gold standard treatment for BPH.TURP can provide significant relief of symptoms and improve flow of urine

Retrograde Intra-Renal Surgery (RIRS): It's a minimally invasive procedure used to treat kidney stones. During RIRS, a thin, flexible scope is passed through the urethra and bladder into the ureter, then into the kidney. This allows the surgeon to visualize the kidney and remove or break up stones using laser energy, without the need for incisions. RIRS is typically performed under general anesthesia and offers high success rates with minimal discomfort and quick recovery

Testicular torsion: is a medical emergency that occurs when the spermatic cord twists, cutting off the blood supply to the testicle. This condition leads to severe pain, swelling, and potential damage to the testicle if not promptly treated. Orchiopexy, is a surgical procedure performed to correct testicular torsion. During the procedure, the surgeon untwists the spermatic cord if torsion is present and then fixes the affected testicle in the scrotum to prevent future torsion.
